Prince Mahidol Award 2010

The Prince Mahidol Award 2010 in Public Health was given to Prof. Ananda S. Prasad, Prof. Robert E. Black and the chair of the IZiNCG Steering Committee Prof. Kenneth H. Brown.

Professor Prasad (Wayne State University, USA) first described zinc deficiency in 1963 in young adults with short stature and delayed sexual development.

Professor Brown (University of California, USA) conducted a series of community-based clinical trials of the effect of preventive zinc supplementation on the child growth and development as well as risk of infection.

Professor Black (Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, USA) contributed substantially to the evidence and programmatic implementation of therapeutic zinc supplementation in the treatment of diarrhea.
